This standard covers steam disinfection processes, with or without direct contact, that provide bactericidal and virucidal activity. It has gained international recognition as it establishes strict criteria to verify whether a steam jet is truly capable of eliminating harmful microorganisms across various fields, from medical to domestic applications.
The standard certifies the effectiveness of a steam device (with or without direct contact) in terms of:
• Bactericidal: effective against bacteria
• Virucidal: effective against viruses, including SARS-CoV-2
• Sporicidal: effective against bacterial spores
• Fungicidal and Yeasticidal: effective against fungi and yeasts
• Phagocidal: effective against bacteriophages
